The EU ‘Clean Energy for All’ package of legislation on Energy Efficiency, Renewables and Energy Union Governance is now in force

On 21 December 2018, the Energy Efficiency Directive 2018 (2018/2002), the Renewable Energy Directive 2018 (2018/2001) and Energy Union Governance Regulation 2018 (2018/1999), were published in the Official Journal. They will all be in force as of today, 24 December 2018.

These acts are a key part of the EU’s Clean Energy for All package. The Energy Efficiency Directive 2018 will set an indicative target for energy efficiency of 32.5%. The Renewable Energy Directive 2018 will require energy from renewables to be increased to 32% of energy consumed and that at least 14% of fuel for transport will need to come from renewable sources by 2030.
