Vincent Brown

MA LLB LLM

Vincent Brown is a dual qualified UK solicitor with full professional Practising Certificates in England & Wales and Scotland. He is also qualified and insured to practice in supra-national EU environmental and pollution law in other jurisdictions in the EU, including Northern Ireland.

Vincent has over 30 years’ uninterrupted experience as a qualified practising lawyer. He was a partner in two major law firms for over 20 years until, in 2012, he set up his own specialist legal practice. While spending the first decade of his career as a commercial property lawyer in a major commercial firm, five years as a partner, Vincent developed a strong aptitude for real estate and development contracts, as well as remediation contracts and other civil engineering contracts. Since 1997, he has practised exclusively full-time in the law and practice of pollution, waste and contamination, equipping him in all the major areas of that vast subject, but his formation in real estate, development and construction/engineering contracts remains strong, and is reflected in some of the complex specialist assignments he has undertaken in the last 10 years in brownfield development work, in which he merges specialist environment law expertise with a strong command of remediation contracts, civil engineering contracts, specialist insurance contracts and broader real estate contracts.

At the same time, as a dedicated specialist in pollution, waste and contamination law, Vincent has since the mid-1990s necessarily developed his own niche in the more specialist aspects of EU and UK industrial environmental law and regulation, becoming one of the most experienced specialists in Europe in the complex and highly problematic area of the legal definitions of ‘waste’, industrial ‘by-products’ and ‘end of waste’.

The practice is very much focused on business and industry. Vincent Brown is a business lawyer, who has advised commercial and industrial clients over three decades.
