The International Waste Shipments (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 were made on 14 March 2019 and will come into force on Exit Day.

The Regulations make minor and technical amendments to address deficiencies that will arise as a result of Brexit, including amendment of the retained EU Waste Shipments Regulation 2006, the Transfrontier Shipment of Waste Regulations 2007 and other related EU legislation on international waste. 

The Regulations amend references to the EU, EU institutions and EU administrative processes and replace them with UK equivalent authorities and processes. They also remove the requirement for the UK government to report annually to the European Commission.
